Maize South girls soccer edges out Andover Central
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Maize South girls’ soccer looked to give Andover Central its first loss of the season on Tuesday night.
Maize South freshman Kyndal Ewertz took it up the field and got an edge on the defenders. She slipped it past the keeper who came out of the goal and found the back corner of the net. Mavericks took a 1-0 lead with 17 minutes left in the first half.
Jasmyn Brown took the corner kick for Andover Central. She sent it all the way back towards midfield to Allison bell who took a long shot on goal. It skimmed just over the cross bar and behind the net. That was the closest the Jags would come to scoring the rest of the game.
Nancy Stefanek passed the ball over to Liberty Bottorff. She also put a little too much power on it and sent it over the goal.
Kaylyn Truong put a boot on it from outside the 18 but it went right to the keeper Avery Mason for the solid save.
Andover Central tried to get a last minute goal in as Brown took the shot in front of the goal. Adison Hendershot picked it up and the Mavs beat the Jags 1-0.
