Carroll blows by Trinity in return to the pitch
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Head Coac Greg Rauch called his team a “caged animal” after the match, a statement that proved to be true when the horn sounded on a 9-0 season opening win for Bishop Carroll over Trinity Academy.
It was the first match played by either side since May of 2019 following the cancellation of the 2020 spring season due to the pandemic.
Senior Khloe Schuckman needed less than three minutes to put Carroll on top, scoring the first goal of a brace, but it was a junior making her team debut that stole the show.
Destiny Hoy, a junior who in 2019 missed her entire freshman campaign due to a broken leg, made her first ever high school game one to remember. She scored two goals in a two minute span midway through the first half to give Carroll a 3-0 lead at the break. Then shortly into the second half she added a third for a hat trick, later in the match adding a fourth goal for a monster debut.
Trinity keeper Ellie Brooks had multiple big stops in goal, but the attack of Carroll proved to be relentless and too much for the Knight defense to keep up with.
Additionally, Anna Lasak, Briana Raya and Autumn Trail all added second half goals for the Golden Eagles.
