Bishop Miege keeps Andale at bay, advances to title game

SALINA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) -A strong first half performance would boost Bishop Miege to another showing in the state championship game, holding off a second half comeback to win 55-40 over Andale.

The beginning of the contest was all about the Stags and their sharp shooter Payton Verhulst. The Louisville signee was all over the court for Bishop Miege, scoring 23 points on the game, shooting 10-17 from the floor. Adrianna Smith directed traffic in the paint, scoring ten points doing most of her work in the second half.

Andale found its rhythm after intermission pouring in 12 points in the third quarter followed by 18n the fourth. Andale outscored Bishop Miege 30-20 in the second half but would run out of time in a late comeback bid.

McKenzie and Katelyn Fairchild paced Andale, adding 12 points each to the final tally.

Bishop Miege moves on to the 4A State Championship game against the winner of McPherson and Louisburg.
