Hesston overcomes Trinity Academy to advance to State Semifinal

WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - In 3A quarterfinals, Trinity Academy traveled to Hesston. The Knights got out to an early lead with a three from Christian Williams. That gave Trinity a five-point lead.
Cason Richardson worked his way inside, turned and threw it up. That brought the Swathers within three, 19-16.
Williams again from deep, he led the Knights in scoring. Trinity fights back to a five-point advantage.
Williams dished underneath to Collin Rucker, he went up and under and kissed it off the glass for the score. Knights up 27-20.
Ben Bollinger in the paint, went for the lay-up but Hesston still trailed 29-23.
And it was the Richardson show as he stretched out towards the rim and got the shot to fall, drew the foul. That tied things up at 33.
Richardson again, pulled up for the mid-range shot to give the Swathers the lead. Hesston pulled off the comeback win 55-47.
They’ll face Galena Friday night at 7 p.m. in the semifinal round of the state tournament.
Hesston head coach Greg Raleigh said, “We started finishing a little bit, we missed a lot of easy shots early and then we started finishing and we made our free throws. So, they’re a really good team so we’re really happy to come out of here.”
