Derby girls roll Southeast in sub-state championship
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Checking out 6A Sub-State finals with Southeast girls at Derby.
Jakhia Jones drove the lane and laid it in but Southeast still trailed 5-2.
Addy Brown at the top of the key, banked it in from downtown to help give the Panthers some separation, 8-2.
Derryana Cobbins pulled up for the long two and Derby extended it’s lead to nine points.
But the Buffaloes were still fighting, Jaila Harding got the shooters bounce to bring Southeast within four points.
Derby moved the ball around, eventually kicking it out to Jaidyn Schomp in the corner for another Panther three. They jumped out to a 20-point lead.
Harding again, not giving up, she caught all net with her mid-range shot before halftime.
But the Panthers would go on to win 64-31. They will head to Dodge City on Tuesday, March 9th to face the 20-1 Demons at 6 p.m.
