Cheney out-battles Eureka to remain undefeated and advance to 3A Quarterfinals

WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - In the 3A sub-state championship at Douglass High; second seed Eureka taking on undefeated Cheney.

Lacy Luehrs got the feed under the net and she tossed it up to give Cheney the two-point lead.

London Hilton passed over the top to Brooklyn Ptacek. She sent it out to Ava Perrier who had an open lane to the basket and she did not hesitate to lay it in to put Eureka up by two.

Brooklyn Wewe came away with the steal and beamed it ahead to Lexi Cline on the fast break to the net. Cline threw it up and tied the game.

Ashley Singhateh passed it to Hilton who was wide open in the wing. Hilton drained the three to put the Tornadoes back on top.

Wewe sent it cross court to Kylee Scheer with the quick trigger from downtown. She brought the Cardinals within two, 15--17.

Despite Eureka’s strong first half performance, Cheney won 55—51 and will be hosting Halstead Monday, March 8th at 6 p.m.
