Eureka mounts final minute comeback to beat Collegiate
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Collegiate and Eureka face off in the 3A sub-state girls basketball bracket at Douglass High School. The winner of this game goes on to play in the sub-state championship game for a chance to compete in the state quarterfinals.
Ellen Munds swung it around to Haley Allen open in the corner who launched up the three. She banged it in and extended the Spartans lead 17-9.
Maddy Mairs on the breakaway, she dished it off to Munds who pulled up for back-to-back threes. That made it an 11-point game.
London Hilton passed to Ashley Singhateh in the corner, she took her shot from deep and it was raining threes! Eureka trailed 20-12.
Paige Henry kicked it out to Avery Elofsson who tossed up another ball from downtown, that caught nothing but net. Collegiate went up 23-15.
The pass inside to Ava Perrier who then spun out and threw it up over defenders to bring Eureka within one.
Eureka’s Cadence Ptacek pulled out a triple with a minute left in the game and put the Tornadoes up 50-48.
Eureka would come back to win 57-50, ending Collegiate’s season.
