Salina Central rolls by Andover
ANDOVER, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Aubrie Kierscht scored 24, including 6 made threes, leading Salina Central to a big 62-30 road win over Andover Friday night.
Central went up by as much as 16 in the opening quarter, a 20-4 lead as the Trojans found trouble getting started offensively. Kierscht did a majority of her damage in the opening 16 minutes, hitting the break with 15 to her name with the lead growing to as much as 25.
In addition to Kierscht’s 24, Chaliscia Samilton had a big day in the paint, finishing with 16 on a perfect 7/7 shooting performance.
For the Trojans, Brooke Walker and Mallory Woolston each finished with 8 points.
The win is Central’s third straight, the Mustangs back on track after a stretch that saw them fall in three of four contests. Their record on the year is now 14-4 with their final two regular season games coming against Newton and Ark City.
Andover, who had only fallen to unbeaten Andover Central in the month of February, now sits at 7-11 on the year. They were seeking back to back wins over ranked opponents after upsetting Maize South Tuesday night. The Trojans will wrap up their regular season visiting Valley Center before hosting Eisenhower a week from tonight.
