Max Alexander’s 31 leads Buhler past Augusta
AUGUSTA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Just a day after finding out he was nominated for the McDonald’s All-American team, Buhler’s Max Alexander took to the court to show exactly why.
The Crusader senior went above his already astounding season average of 25 a game to put up 31 as second ranked Buhler pulled away from Augusta for a 56-46 win Friday night.
Alexander got started quickly, scoring 15 of their first 20 points and keying a run that gave the Crusaders a 12 point second quarter lead. Alexander finished the half with 17 of their 29 points as they took a 29-20 lead to the locker room.

But the third quarter belonged to the Orioles. They opened the frame on a 9-0 run to even the score, even taking a lead midway through the quarter as they held Alexander to just 2 third quarter points.
But after keeping a tie game into the fourth, Alexander took back over, scoring 12 in the final 8 minutes and guiding the Crusaders to the win.
For the Orioles, Brendan Parker lead the way with 15 and Ryan Andrews was right behind him with 14. They have an all-important game with McPherson on the road Tuesday night; a win over the Bullpups would create a three-way tie atop the AVCTL-III standings between the two and Buhler.
The Crusaders will end their season with games against El Dorado and Winfield before beginning Sub-State.
