Maize holds off Heights in mid-season tournament
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - The Maize Eagles were able to ward off a comeback attempt from the Heights Falcons in day two of the January Jam winning 53-47.
An even start to the game saw both sides staring at a 10 all tie heading. From there, the Eagle offense launched them over the Falcons with three players scoring in double figures. Kyle Grill finished with a team-high 14 points, followed by Winston Bing with 11, and Avery Johnson with 10. Bing scored each of his points in the first half, finding success from beyond the arc.
Heights looked to one of the youngest players on the team for points. Freshman TJ Williams scored a game-high 19 points including ten in the second quarter. Marcus Ziegler paced Williams with 13, followed by Dreylin Kemp with 9.
