WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - After losing the first meeting at home, Derby got revenge on Maize at their place Friday night, winning 36-24 in a defensive slugfest. The loss is the first for Maize this year.

the tone was set right out of the gates, as several minutes passed before the game’s first points. It took an Addy Brown buzzer beater at the end of the 1st quarter to make it a 7-5 game. Derby maintained the lead into the break at 20-9, and that 2nd quarter was key, as things were only separated by a point the rest of the way.

Brown led the way for Derby with 11 points. Maize’s Sydney Holmes led all scorers with 13 points.
