Hot shooting Andover Central sinks Andover
ANDOVER, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Bailey Wilborn sunk 9 threes, part of a performance that saw Central hit 16 shots from behind the arc as they cruised past Andover 70-27 Friday night.
The Trojans matched the Jaguars for much of the opening quarter-plus, trailing by just one after the opening frame and leading it 16-15 in the second. Then Wilborn caught fire, hitting three consecutive attempts from deep to kickstart a 19-0 run that carried into the second half.
She would add five more triples after the break, finishing with 9 made threes to equal Andover total of 27 points in the game. Ellie Stearns hit four threes of her own to finish with 14 points, while Brittany Harshaw and Jayden Newfarmer contributed 10 points apiece as the Jags continued to pull away.
The top team in Class 5A, Central remains perfect on the season and has now won 28 straight games dating back to an overtime loss to McPherson in December of 2019.
The Jags will have 7 days to prepare before taking the court next Friday at Hutchinson. Andover next will compete at the Salina Invitational Tournament beginning next Thursday.
