Andover bounces back to roll past Andover Central
ANDOVER, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Eli Shetlar and Jack Johnson nearly outscored Andover Central as a duo as the Trojans routed the Jaguars 63-43 Friday night.
The Trojans bounced back from their first loss since February of 2019, a loss at Maize Tuesday night that ended a 30-game win streak.
Central got out to an early 6-4 lead behind three buckets from Brian Perry, but the Trojans never looked back from that point on, closing the first on a 15-4 run. They would extend the lead to 20 at halftime, splitting the points after the break.
The sophomore Shetlar came off the bench to hit five first half threes, including a buzzer-beater to end the first quarter, scoring 19 of his game-high 21 in the opening 16 minutes. Johnson returned from a quarantine period to add 19 after missing the loss at Maize Tuesday.
Andover now enters the Salina Invitational Tournament with an 8-1 mark seeking a second straight championship next week. Central will travel to Chanute to compete in the Ralph Miller Classic.
