Carroll boys make it a sweep over Kapaun in Holy War
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - It’s the first game back from winter break and Bishop Carroll said it’s just happy to come away with a win from this Holy War, 64-51. But the team also said Kapaun Mt. Carmel exposed parts of their game they need to fix.
Carroll senior Alex Littlejohn said, “We were sloppy. We turned the ball over too much. Plus walking on defense, we’ll clean it up, we just have to get back into it.”
“We didn’t play very well before the break, we got away from what we do well. You know, we had such a long break,” said Carroll’s head coach Mike Domnick. “You can’t give these basketball players two, two and a half weeks off and then only have a week or so to get them ready.”
“They’re a really good team. We knew that, we knew it was going to be a close...it’s Holy War. It’s going to be a close game either way and we tried to come out with a lot of energy because it’s our first game after break,” said Littlejohn. “So a lot of us are tired but we tried to bring as much energy as we can and we got the win. That’s the most important thing.”
“We had lazy turnovers, we’ve been working on that in practice but when you play a good team, you tend to forget about that and they anticipate the pass lane so well and they deflected some passes,” said Domnick. “So there are some things, obviously every game you’ve got something to clean up.”
Carroll is now 3-2 and is hoping to continue the second half of the season stronger than how they started it. They will take on Wichita West Saturday, January 9th and KMC will face West on Tuesday, January 12th.
