AUGUSTA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Circle’s Kimalee Cook scored 16 points in the second half to lead the Thunderbirds in a 54-34 drubbing of Augusta.

The Orioles got off to a horrible start, scoring just three points in the first quarter.

Cook led all scorers with 21 on the night including two three-pointers in the fourth quarter and made up half her team’s point total in the final frame.

Augusta trailed Circle by just seven at halftime, but never mounted any serious comeback.

It wasn’t from a lack of trying, though. Augusta’s Ella Puckett drained four threes in the second half after just two points in the first half. She ended up leading her team with 14 points.

Circle’s Maci Claycamp and Augusta’s Sydney Scott both scored 10 points on the night.

Augusta is back in action Friday, Jan. 8 at Buhler.

Circle will host El Dorado on Jan. 8.
