AUGUSTA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Rivals Circle and Augusta squared off and the Thunderbirds kept it close early, but the Class 4A No. 8 Orioles were too much and picked up a 51-40 win.

Circle’s Drew Middleton got things going for his team early with a three from the top of the key, but Augusta had an answer for everything.

The Orioles never gave up on possessions, as Kaden McDaniel took a feed from Ely Wilcox and battled to just get his first shot up, but missed. He grabbed his own rebound and was able to finish.

With the win, Augusta improves to 3-1 on the season and Circle falls to 1-3.

Augusta is currently scheduled to travel to Buhler Friday, Jan. 8.

Circle is scheduled to host El Dorado on Jan. 8.
