Derby rolls past Gardner-Edgerton 48-28

WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Derby cruised past Gardner-Edgerton 48-28 to advance to the sectional round of playoffs next week.

The Panthers opened the game with a blocked punt for a touchdown from senior Reid Liston to take an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Derby led 35-7 at the break, as the Panthers' title defense played lights out in the first half, with the Blazers only touchdown coming from a fumble recovery by their defense.

The momentum only continued for Derby in the second half, cruising to a 20-point victory.

Sophomore Dylan Edwards and Liston led to way offensively for the Panthers with three touchdowns a piece. Senior quarterback Lem Wash threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns, notching 105 rushing yards.

Derby will travel to Lawrence next Friday to take on No. 1 seed Lawrence (9-0).

Gardner-Edgerton ends its season with a 5-3 record.
