CHENEY, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - The Cheney Cardinals entered the night unbeaten but would suffer their first and final loss of the season at the hands of the Collegiate Spartans 35-20.

The Spartans jumped out to an early lead but Cheney was able to answer when Harrison Voth found Marcus Pienter for a 36-yard touchdown reception.

Collegiate’s offense would be the story of the night, scoring on all but one of its first half possessions. A 40-yard Jacob Chugg run would put the Spartans up 22-6 at the break.

The Spartans defense was able to force turnovers that would equal points for the away team. A Cardinal fumble recovered by Collegiate would lead to a Wesley Fair touchdown run just before the half.

Cheney would battle back with more points as Voth found Peinter again, but the Spartans would prove to be too much on the night.

Collegiate will test the road against SE of Saline in a sectional playoff game.
