Buhler shuts down Rose Hill 42-8
ROSE HILL, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - On paper, Rose Hill and Buhler were evenly matched. No. 4-seeded Rose Hill came in with a 6-3 record and No. 5 Buhler entered with a 5-3 record and that all disappeared quickly.
Buhler poured it on in a huge 21-point second quarter to end Rose Hill’s season 42-8.
The Rockets looked good on their opening drive until Buhler’s Cameron Campbell forced a fumble on Rose Hill’s Kale Kochick. Levi Perez picked up the ball near midfield and scored the game’s first touchdown.
When Buhler had the ball for its first possession, the Crusaders turned to the run game to keep the clock and the ball moving. They worked down to the 21-yard line, where Sam Elliott scored his first touchdown of the night to go up 14-0 in the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter, the Rose Hill defense could not get off the field as Buhler drove to the six-yard line. Buhler’s Collin Rolland took the handoff and went straight up the middle and lunged for the touchdown with a defender on his ankles to make it 21-0.
The highlight-reel score of the first half was Buhler quarterback Bradley Neill hauling back and tossing a perfect 36-yard dime to Ryan Henderson for the Crusaders' fourth score of the night.
Then, with just over a minute left in the half, Elliott took the handoff, found an opening and saw nothing but green in front of him for the 73-yard touchdown to go up 35-0 at halftime.
Rose Hill’s season ends with a 6-4 record.
Buhler moves on to face top-seeded McPherson next Friday, Nov. 13.
