HAYS, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - The Beloit Trojans traveled to Lewis Field Stadium and soundly defeated the TMP-Marian Monarchs by a score of 55 to 14 to continue in the Class 2A playoffs.

TMP hosted the Week 9 contest after winning District 7. Beloit entered as the visitors after securing fourth place in District 8.

Beloit won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball. They marched down the field and capped the drive with a touchdown by Anthony Henke from nine yards out. The two-point conversion failed. The Trojans took eight minutes off the clock.

The Monarchs took over but were unable to sustain the drive after crossing midfield.

The Trojans regained the ball after TMP turned it over on downs at Beloit’s 42-yard line.

Benson Brendt carried the ball seven times on the possession. He ended it with a three-yard touchdown rush. Beloit failed to earn two points on the conversion for the second time.

On the ensuing kick-off, Brycn Corbett tried to squick kick the ball. Instead, it careened off a TMP player, and a Trojan recovered it.

Beloit took advantage of the short field again to make the score 20 to 0 after a Brycn Corbett touchdown reception from Owen Eilert. Benson Brendt added the two-point conversion on a rush.

For only the second time of the night, TMP took possession of the ball. This time the Monarchs built a drive and capped it with a Kade Harris to Andrew Schartz touchdown pass. The home team could not convert on the attempted two-point conversion.

The clock read 1:10 left in the first half. Beloit seemed content to run out the clock. Two fifteen-yard penalties later and the Trojans were closer to the endzone.

Owen Eilert decided to throw a pass on second and ten from the TMP 36-yard line. He found Tristan Thompson in the endzone for the completion. Eilert threw to Brycn Corbett to add two more points to the score.

Beloit entered the locker room at halftime with a 28 to 6 advantage.

The Trojans continued to dominate in the second half.

They added 27 points to the score. The total included a 60-yard touchdown run by Brycn Corbett.

TMP added another touchdown, a nine-yard pass to Mark Rack.

When the final whistle blew, Beloit stood on top 55 to 14.

Benson Brendt rushed for over 240 yards with three touchdowns for Beloit. Teammates Brycn Corbett and Tristan Thompson both pulled in two touchdown passes.

TMP-Marian quarterback Kade Harris led the team in rushing yards with close to 100.

“We did a good job all game controlling the line of scrimmage,” said Beloit Head Coach Brad Gober. “Over the last four weeks, we’ve played good football at times, just not putting it all together. Our kids have believed from day one that we are a good football team, and obviously we are starting to show that we are a phyiscal team and can compete with a lot of teams on the west side.”

TMP-Marian finishes the year with a 7 and 2 record.

Beloit improves to 3 and 6. They face Phillipsburg next in the regional round.
