WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Only 19 points scored total in the City League title game. Both East and Northwest normally put up around 50 points a game.

Really it’s a testament to the strength of both of these defenses. However, the Grizzlies were able to keep the Blue Aces out of the end zone the entire game and come away with the 17-2 win.

Northwest head coach Steve Marin said, “They played a great job on defense too, that’s a good football team that’s playing great defense. We knew they were going to pack the box and shut the run down and they did a great job.”

Northwest senior running back Julius Bolden said, “We knew coming in that they were going to be a pretty good defense. They had only let up 19 points on the season so, we knew it was going to be a tough one.”

“That is what was stopping us, they did a good job, they get to play defense and they did a great job of running and playing football,” said Martin.

“We couldn’t line up and run our usual outside zones and inside zones and all that, we just had to mix it up, make sure they were off set,” said Bolden.

Late in the third quarter, East’s quarterback Daeonte' Mitchell suffered a serious injury. He was moving his arms and legs in small amounts but Mitchell was taken away in an ambulance. We’re currently unsure of his official status.
