Clearwater drops second straight, Andale wins 40-21
ANDALE, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Andale didn’t always look like the top-ranked team in class 3A, but the Indians did more than enough to remain undefeated on the season with a 40-21 win over Clearwater.
Andale scored on its first possession then recovered a fumble on Clearwater’s first possession and scored on the next play to go up 14-0 early.
Clearwater could never come back despite multiple penalties committed by Andale. Several big plays from Andale were negated because of penalties, but Clearwater never made anything of the Andale miscues.
The closest Clearwater came to making this game competitive was in the second quarter when Brock Toothaker punched it in on a sweep from six yards out to make it 14-7.
On Andale’s next possession, facing third and long from midfield, Clearwater committed a huge pass interference to keep the ball moving for Andale. Clearwater forced a fourth-and-three from the 11 and Cody Parthemer walked in for the score right before halftime to make it 20-7 at the break.
Clearwater showed some life to open the third quarter when it drove down the field methodically and scored on a Tanner Cash run, but in the end, Andale was too much for Clearwater.
Andale remains undefeated on the season and will travel to Wichita Collegiate for a huge game next Friday.
Clearwater moves to 5-2 after opening the season with five straight wins. The Indians host Hesston next Friday.
