Heights comes from behind for 2OT win at North
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - With two match days left in the regular season, the second and third ranked teams in the GWAL face off. Wichita Heights got on the board within the first five minutes of the game against Wichita North but North quickly tied things up.
The Falcons would trail 3-1 coming back from the half and then scored two unanswered goals in the second half. That forced the game into overtime. After the first overtime period, the game was still tied at 3.
In double overtime, Heights was able to get behind the North’s keeper and pull out the come from behind win 4-3.
Illian Martinez-Valenciana was swarmed with three defenders. Heights tried to kick the ball out but Vicente Tovar came through and smacked it into the goal to tie the game at 1-1.
Elijah Harbin on the breakaway, one-on-one with the keeper. He took the shot and Adrian Perez cut the ball off to keep the Falcons from falling behind.
Then, Harbin did it again. This time he got some air under it but Perez pulled out another nice save.
Oscar Vitela in front of the goal, he took the shot and it looked like it was going in but it was too wide which leaves the game tied at one.
Harbin with the ball but was tripped by Israel Pena who got a yellow card for the contact. That would lead to a free kick.
Sergio Olguin-Romero placed it right in front of the net and Ureil Aguilera-Frenandez got a head on it and sent it into the goal.
But Heights came back from a 3-1 deficit.
Double overtime, the North defender and keeper ran into each other and Faisal Arshad kept going with the ball. He tapped it in to the open net for the easy goal.
