HESSTON, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - It was a defensive battle on Homecoming night at Hesston High School as they faced the Wichita Collegiate Spartans. But Collegiate exploded in the 2nd half on the way to a 31-10 win.

In the first quarter, the Swathers thought they were on the board with a pass to number 22, Nick Arnold but it was called out at the one-yard line. A couple plays later the Swathers score again but a holding call will keep the score 0-0.

Going into the second quarter, Collegiate’s offense started warming up with two big runs from quarterback, Wesley Fair.

That got the Spartans close enough for a 50-yard field goal made by number 31, Jack Duarte.

They finish the half with Collegiate up 3-0.

Early in the third quarter, Collegiate picked up the pace scoring their first touchdown of the night with a four-yard rushing touchdown from Wesley Fair.

Hesston responded a couple plays later with a field goal, getting their first points of the night, 10-3.

But the Spartans were not letting up! A huge 62-yard rushing touchdown again from Wesley Fair, put the Spartans up 17-3 in the fourth quarter.

Some miscommunication from the Swathers offense led to a four and out. Spartans got the ball again and they did not waste any time. A 29-yard pass to number 10, Michael Fair put Collegiate up 24-3.

But the Swathers answered back with three big pass plays from quarterback Ryan Eilert that led them to their first touchdown of the night, 24-10.

Wesley Fair found his way into the end zone late in the fourth quarter for his third rushing touchdown of the night sealing the Spartans win. Final score: 31-10.
