Pair of first half goals sends Liberal past Kapaun
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - A.J. Ramirez and Alfredo Lopez each scored first half goals to send Liberal past Kapaun 2-1 in a non-league soccer match Tuesday evening.
After nearly going the opening quarter of the match scoreless, Angel Munox lobbed a pass Ramirez' was who headed in a great shot over the outstretched arms of Malik Ngugi to put Liberal up 1-0. A short time later the Crusaders were in position to level the match at 1 goal apiece, but they were unable to convert a penalty kick with keeper Samuel Hernandez guessing correctly for the diving save to keep Kapaun off the board.
That save turned out to be huge for Liberal, as despite Lopez making it a 2-0 match they would concede a late own goal in the 72nd minute, losing the shutout but still holding on for the big road win.
