Southeast of Saline wins third straight over Beloit
GYPSUM, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) -After losing to the Southeast of Saline Trojans the past two seasons, the Beloit Trojans had something to prove tonight.
But the battle of the Trojans didn’t turn out to be as big a fight as some were expecting.
Penalties were an issue for both teams early on but the Southeast of Saline Trojans were still able to come out on top.
It was a defense heavy game on both ends of the field in the first quarter.
But a handoff to Bryant Banks of the Southeast of Saline Trojans is what led them into the end zone for their first touchdown of the night.
And he’s not done yet. A 16 yard pass from number 14, Jaxson Gebhardt to Banks in the second quarter puts the Southeast of Saline Trojans up 12-0 at half.
In the third quarter, an 18 yard pass from Jaxson Gebhardt to Chase Poaque solidified the Southeast of Saline Trojan’s victory finishing 18-0.
That marks three years in a row that the Southeast of Saline Trojans have beat the Beloit Trojans.
“It’s exciting. Beloit runs a great football program and have for as long as I can remember and I’m an old man. So they always have a good football program and to win three years in a row, you know, win here and win up there both…. It’s big for our program because they’re so good,” Head Coach Mitch Gebhardt said.
The Southeast of Saline Trojans are now 2-0. They’ll face the Ellsworth Bearcats on September 18.
