WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Goddard on its home turf taking on Buhler in the Goddard/Campus boy’s soccer tournament on Wednesday.

The Lions got an early corner kick where Yoseph Espinoza, in the crowd in front of the net, was able to get a head on the ball and sent it into the goal. But Buhler’s keeper, Jax Fredrick, pulled off an impressive save by being in the right place at the right time.

Goddard’s Aidan Haislett passed it up to Gabe Villegas for the first Lions score of the game to put them ahead 1-0 in the first few minutes of the game.

Keeping the pressure on the Crusaders defense, the Lions kept the ball on Buhler’s half of the field for most of the game. Dominic Zuniga dropped it off to Haislett who showed off some nice footwork as he slipped it behind back to Zuniga who booted it into the top left corner of the net. Fredrick stretching out, couldn’t reach it and Goddard extended the lead 2-0.

The Crusaders got the call for a free kick and it’s sent it up to Colton Stucky in front of the net. He took a quick shot on goal but it went bouncing to the keeper, Ryan Bay.

Lions continued a big first half with a pass up to Skyler Hernandez who tore down the field and went one-on-one with the keeper. He slipped it right past Fredrick’s hands to put Goddard up 3-0.

The Lions win this match 5-0 over Buhler.
