Garden City pulls off the comeback win over Rose Hill
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A nasty day for some soccer in the opening day of the Goddard/Campus boys soccer tournament.
Garden City quickly fell behind Rose Hill in the first half 1-nothing. But the Buffalo’s Rodrigo Oropeza pulled off a shot on goal but it bounced right off the top of the goal post allowing Rose Hill to keep its 1-0 lead.
The Buffalo kept pressure on the Rockets and again it was Oropeza who put a boot on it from the middle of the field, sending it right to the net but the Rocket’s keeper was there for the stop.
Rose Hill tried to switch the field with Drew Leck sending a header up to Zach Hoang in the goal box. But a sliding save just in time from the Buff’s keeper robbed them from regaining their lead.
Oropeza with multiple shots in during the game, took another try at it and sent the ball to the far corner of the net. The Rocket’s keeper couldn’t stretch out far enough and that tied the game just before halftime to one-a-piece.
In the second half, Rose Hill tried to pull ahead as Andruw Weeks took a long shot on goal from outside the 30, but it went right into the keeper’s hands.
Garden City with the comeback win over Rose Hill in a 3-2 final score.
