This weekend also includes an all weekend long shopping extravaganza for the ladies and two incredible concerts featuring legendary singer John Denver and historical jazz band Count Basie Orchestra.

Why you should go: Ladies, prepare yourselves for a weekend full of non-stop shopping at the 15th Annual Women’s Fair, which will take place at Wichita’s Century II from Friday, February 15 through Sunday, February 17.
The fair will include 385 exhibitors selling products that range from beauty and fashion, jewelry and clothing, food and cooking, home décor and services, and much more. This show will have it all!
The Women’s Fair will also workshops, live music, wine and food sampling, fashion & hair runway shows, cooking & dancing demonstrations, fun & entertaining contests, a red carpet gala, Fitness Challenge, Friday business workshop and second keynote speaker on Saturday, shopping marketplace and prize giveaways.
Last year’s show attracted over 15,000 attendees from across the state. The show is owned and operated by two Wichita women, Chris Veazey Brown and Deanna Wheeler.
Fair hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.Admission is $8.25 for adults, $7.25 for seniors and $5.25 for children 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. The Party Bus will again provide door-side transportation from Lawrence-Dumont Stadium parking lot.
2) Count Basie Orchestra

Why you should go: Check out one of history’s longest running orchestras in American history this Saturday, February 16 at the Orpheum Theatre. The Count Basie Orchestra got its start over seventy years ago by musician, Count Basie. Since then, the orchestra has had huge success as one of the most thriving jazz performing bands of the swing era, winning 17 Grammy Awards and collaborating with singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

Why you should go: Spend this weekend, and next week, watching a series of short films, for FREE! The 27th Annual Preview of Academy Award-nominated short films will take place between Saturday, February 16th, through Saturday, February 23rd.
The animated, live action and documentary shorts will play at several different locations throughout the week, including showings at the Orpheum Theatre and 21st Street Warren Theater.
The Academy Award-nominated short films are all less than 40 minutes in running time each, one film is as short as 2 minutes. The films are not rated and may not be suitable for all ages.

The circus is rolling into town. The Midian Shrine Circus will put on seven separate shows at Hartman Arena, Friday, February 15, through Sunday, February 17. This one’s a perfect show for all ages.
The 75th Annual Midian Shrine Circus will be wowing crowds with an entourage of trapeze artists, daredevil acts, Krazy Klowns, big furry cats, talented pooches, elephants, and much more. The public is encouraged to arrive at least 45 minutes before the showtime to enjoy the pre-show entertainment of riding the elephants, visiting with the Midian's own Krazy Klowns, meeting popular cartoon characters, taking pony and camel rides, getting your face painted, and experiencing all the excitement that a circus has to offer.

5) Serving the Hungry: At Home and in Haiti

Why you should go: Come watch history be made this Saturday! The event ‘Serving the Hungry: At Home and in Haiti’ will try to break a Guiness World record by packaging 350,000 meals in one hour for schools in Haiti. The meals will go to 800 school children in Lambert and Borde, Haiti who have not eaten lunch since September 2012.
KWCH Channel 12 teamed up with Numana and Volunteer Kansas to help feed the hungry in Haiti and here locally. In order to do this, 2,000 volunteers have been asked to help package the meals between Noon and 1:00 on the 16th.
To break the world record, volunteers will have to package 5,834 meals per minute totaling 350,000 meals in one hour. This will provide enough food to feed these children for an entire year.
6) John Denver: A Rocky Mountain High Concert

Why you should go: Fans of the outdoorsy country songs of John Denver will enjoy the live touring experience honoring the late singer’s music and memory at the Orpheum Theatre, Tuesday, February 19 at 7:30 PM.
John Denver: A Rocky Mountain High Concert will feature projected vintage videos of the singer performing his biggest hit songs, which will be backed live by members of his original touring band and accompanying string sections.
For the first time in 15 years, since Denver's death in a 1997 private plane crash, audience members can experience the two-time Grammy Award winner in a concert setting. The concert will include all of the songs that made the singer so famous, including the 19 singles that hit the Top 10, such as "Take Me Home Country Road," "Rocky Mountain High," and “Annie’s Song.”
