If you would like to get some extra use out of your Halloween costume this year, there are plenty of local Halloween-themed events around town that both adults and children can enjoy. In fact, there are so many Halloween events this week that we had to add 5 more events to our list of things to do.

1) Orpheum Theatre’s Weekend of Horror Films
The Orpheum will be playing three separate horror films over the Halloween weekend. The Bride of Frankenstein (a 1935 monster film in which Dr. Frankenstein builds his monster a mate), The Selling (a 2011 film based on a real estate agent who must sell a haunted house before the home's spirits ruin his life), and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (the notorious 1975 horror parody and bizarre musical).
You must be 17 years old or accompanied by an adult to view the midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Why you should go: If you’re looking for a thrilling night of dancing and live music, then come out to Crown Uptown’s special Halloween party. The event will include spooky live music from the band “On Call,” complimentary hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Guests can enjoy additional drinks and menu items available for purchase.
In addition to a night of dancing, this is also a costume party. Make sure to wear your best Halloween costume and you could leave with a fabulous prize.
3) Night of the Living Zoo

Why you should go: The Sedgwick County Zoo will open its gates once again this year for a ‘not-too-scary’ evening of Halloween fun. Dress your children up in their Halloween outfits and take them on a casual stroll throughout the zoo where several ghoulish creatures will be passing out sweet treats.
Children will also get to enjoy plenty of ghoulish activities, including a jack-o-lantern lane, pumpkin beanbag tosses and bowling, and spook-tacular Halloween decorations throughout the zoo.
4) Hay, Hooves and Halloween

Why you should go: The kids will love spending the day at the Hay, Hooves, and Halloween event in Cowtown - and you probably will too. Candy stations will also be stationed throughout the museum and children are encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween costumes.
The day's Halloween festivities include a costume contest, Halloween crafts, face painting, old-time photos, spooky stories for kids, witches, a mad scientist, a haunted farm and more. Another bonus of going to Hay, Hooves and Halloween is getting to see festive decorations spread throughout the museum’s century-old buildings.
5) WSU Zombie Mob Walk

Why you should go: The walking dead will be invading Wichita State University’s campus this Friday evening in the 2nd Annual Zombie Mob Walk 2012. And don’t be too frightened, these zombies aren’t the flesh-eating, violent kind. These are just philanthropic zombies aiming to make a difference by gathering nonperishable food donations for the Kansas Food Bank.
The Zombie Walk will include several donation stations around the city where individuals can drop off canned food items. Those who drop off canned goods will receive a 15% off coupon to Party City. The individual or team to bring the most canned goods will receive an appreciation plaque and FREE Zombie Mob Walk T-Shirt.
Don’t forget to come dressed up in your best zombie makeup and attire. The best dressed Zombie Mob individual or team will receive a FREE Zombie Mob Walk T-Shirt.

Why you should go: The Wichita Children’s Theatre’s “Trick or Treat Street” is a great event if you’re looking for a non-scary event that young children can enjoy. The Halloween-themed, fund-raising event is meant for children 10 and younger.
Children can come dressed-up in their Halloween costumes and go trick-or-treating at sixteen doors along an imaginative street. Costumed volunteers will be handing out candy and sponsor-related items at each door.
Along with receiving LOTS of candy, children will get to enjoy Halloween-themed music, games, Soapy the Clown, entertainment, and special activities.
7) Malloween

Where: Towne East Square in Sears Court, Towne West Square in Dillard’s North Court

Why you should go: Bring your children to the mall, dressed in their costumes, for a ‘howling’ good time at Malloween. Children 12 years old and younger are invited to come search the malls and their retailers for candy, all while being in a safe environment.
The FREE event will include a variety of frightfully fun activities for children of all ages. Children will also receive a FREE Trick-or-Treat Bag and FREE KRE-O Bumblebee Transformer – a limit of one per family – while supplies last.
8) YMCA Monster Bash 5K Dash & Trick or Trot

Why you should go: Monsters and goblins will be released on the streets of Wichita during the North YMCA’s Monster Bash 5K Dash & Trick or Trot.
The Monster Bash 5K will begin at 5:30 PM, followed by the Trick or Trot 1 Mile (for children 12 and under). After participants have finished the race, they will be able to enjoy a chili meal provided by Two Brothers BBQ.
Make sure that you also come dressed in your best costume for the race. Awards will be given to the best individual and group costume for the Monster Bash 5K and Trick or Trot. Carnival games and candy stations will bring additional fun for those who join the race.
Race fee includes t-shirt and chili meal. There is no guarantee on t-shirt availability for those who sign up on the day of the race.
9) Lights on David Street

Why you should go: The kids won’t even have to get out of the car for this one! Lights on David Street will light up the fall nights leading up to Halloween with a residential light and music show.
The light show will be synchronized to music on 106.9 FM. This is a “terror free” show that kids of all ages can enjoy.
10) The Zombie Apocalypse – An Infested 5K
Time: 12:00 PM

Why you should go: Your fitness and survival will be challenged during the 5K Zombie Apocalypse at Tanganyika Wildlife Park.
This 5K is NOT a normal road race. Competitors will run a 5-kilometre obstacle course through the mud, over hay bales and around a cemetery, all while being chased by flesh-eating, bloody zombies.
So, what’s the best advice for escaping alive this race? Some major cardio training.
Race participants will wear flags that represent their lives. As runners make their way along the race route, they will be chased by zombies. If a zombie grabs all of the runner’s flags, they will die and the zombie will eat their brains.
Awards will be given to the top three men and top three women in four separate age categories: 14 – 19, 20 – 29, 30 – 39, and 40+. The blood-sucking zombies will also be awarded prizes for the most unique zombie, youngest zombie, oldest zombie, and scariest zombie.
