1) Woofstock 2012

Why you should go: It’s that time of year to celebrate peace, love and pooches. Bring your canine to the 2012 Woofstock for a barking good time this Saturday.
Woofstock, which is the Kansas Humane Society’s largest annual fundraising event, will kick-off the event with the Woofstock Walk in the Sedgwick County Park.
Following the Woofstock Walk, enjoy a full day of dog friendly events with your favorite pal by participating in a doggy costume contest, ruff races, water retrieval, silent auction, doggie musical chairs contest, and much more.
The money from the fundraiser will help provide a better future for the homeless animals in our community. Admission is $5 to get in to all Woofstock activities and demonstrations.
If you want to provide help to even more animals, you can pay $25 for the VIP Admission. The VIP Admission Woofstock prize pack includes a limited edition Woofstock T-shirt, Woofstock dog bandana, Zuke’s treats, prizes from Warren Theatre, and much more.

2) The 5th Annual Ghost Stories of Historic Delano
Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Why you should go: Get into the Halloween spirit by attending the 5th Annual Ghost Stories of Historic Delano Ghost Tour. The ghoulish adventure will begin at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium where you’ll meet with paranormal researchers from the Wichita Paranormal Research Society.
You’ll also meet with local residents and business owners who will provide different accounts of loud banging noises, orbs of lights, apparitions, cold spots and strange odors in older buildings in the Delano District. Tour guides will be at each ‘haunted’ location to tell these stories and pass out treats.
The Ghost Tour will provide entertainment along the way with dancers from Amira’s Dance Productions performing in Goth costumes. Perhaps you’ll even see strange apparitions along the way?
3) County Fair at Old Cowtown

Why you should go: If you’ve ever wondered what an 1870’s-style community block party might have been like, Old Cowtown’ s 35th Annual County Fair will be the place to find out.
The day will include a full list of activities that will be entertaining for both children and adults. The County Fair will include performances by the Dixie Lee Saloon Girls and the Entre Nous Social Dancers, a petting zoo, midway games, carnival games, children’s races, tug-of-war competitions, and live music performances.
The fair will also include delicious food that will be available at the Saloon’s Snack Bar. Menu includes Sarsaparilla, Sausage, Chips, Candy and More!

4) In the Mood: A 1940s Musical Revue

Why you should go: Travel back to America’s Greatest Generation and get your boogie-woogie on at the Orpheum’s Broadway Musical “In The Mood: A 1940s Musical Revue.” The concert features the music of Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Erksine Hawkins, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, The Andrews Sisters, and other big performers of the 1940s.
The upbeat musical takes you on a journey through the life and times of America’s Swing Era. The concert features musical arrangements of this era that includes everything from the waltz to the foxtrot, boogie-woogie to the up-tempo big band rhythms. Along with the musical variety of Swing music, the show also includes authentic costumes and choreography from the 1940s.
This is the 18th season for the Broadway musical, which has performed to sold out crowds in the United States, Canada, Australia, England and New Zealand.
5) Boo-lesque

Why you should go: Cabaret Oldtown’s “Boo-lesque: A Tricky Treat,” is a musical comedy that will showcase an evening of burlesque with a ‘spooky’ theme.
Although it is a burlesque show, there will be no nudity and is compared to a Las Vegas modern burlesque style.
Since it is a musical-comedy, the show will include humorous stand-up routines, along with musical solos and burlesque dances performed by 21 modern songs.
