Swimmers, bikers and runners showed up bright and early to participate in the 2012 Waterfront Triathlon on Sunday, July 22. The triathlon started at 7:00 a.m. at the Waterfront Business Park, 13th and Webb Road.
The race began with a 400 meter swim at the beach behind the Commerce Bank Building. Participants completed one loop around the Waterfront pond.
The biking portion followed the swim and began in the Commerce Bank parking lot. The 20KM bike race (6.2 mile course) required cyclists to complete 2 loops around Webb to 21st, 21st to 127th, 127th to Webb.
After the bike race, participants finished the last leg of the triathlon with a 5KM run (3.1 mile course) around the Waterfront property.
The race concluded with an awards ceremony, awarding awards to 1st through 3rd place winners in separate male and female categories.
The Waterfront Triathlon was a USAT Sanctioned Race, which is a national governing body for the sports of aquathlons, duathlons, triathlons and winter triathlons.
