Community members of South-central Kansas are being asked to continue their efforts in raising money for the young mother who died earlier this month.
Eighteen-year-old Taylor Sowell of Newton was killed Oct. 6 when the car she was driving collided with a BNSF freight train in Harvey County. Her husband and brother were injured in the crash, but survived the collision. Sowell’s 8-month-old daughter, Laken, was with a baby-sitter when the accident happened.
On Saturday, Salon Halo will be hosting a Cut-A-Thon Fundraiser from 9 AM – 2 PM. The fundraiser will provide Men’s and Children’s cuts for a minimum donation of $10. Women’s dry cuts will be provided for a minimum donation of $15. Salon Halo is located at 102 W 5th Street, Sedgwick, KS 67135.
All of the event proceeds will go towards the Sowell Memorial Fund, a fund set-up to financially help Sowell’s family, husband and infant daughter.
A Facebook page has also been set up with more information on how you can donate money. To get to that page, click the link: http://www.facebook.com/RipTaylorSowell?fref=ts
