The defending 3-2-1A state champions, the Scott City Beavers, got their shot at the 6A Dodge City Demons on Thursday night. The Demon wrestling team was 8-3 and looking for a momentum boost while the Beavers came to Dodge 8-5 with the hopes of earning a 6A win. The Demons would get what they were battling for as they defeated the Beavers 47-38.

This year Dodge City has been known for it’s light weights and again they stood the test. Demon 106-pound competitor, Howard Johnson, took his first match in a tech. fall and Jaden McRoberts  followed in the 113 class with a quick pin in the first period.

One of the two premiere matches was in the 120 pound weight class. Dodge City’s No. 3 ranked Clay Weil faced 3A’s No. 5 wrestler, the Beavers James Jurgens. Weil took a quick 4 point lead at the end of the first and finished off three periods with a 9-1 score.

The Beavers’ 132-pounder Wyatt Kropp earned Scott City’s first pin and points but two pins and a tech. fall smothered the Beavers hopes of a comeback.

Warren Kropp in the 160-pound weight class dominated James Meehan with a tech. fall in the other premiere match up but the Demons would continue their rampage to win 47-28.
