One small step for many teams. One giant leap for the Winfield Vikings.

Head coach Justin Price’ teams have been trapped in the below .500 mud.  The Vikings had finished at or below .500 for five consecutive seasons; but in 2013, Winfield shifted the truck into 4-wheel drive and powered out of the ditch to a 7-4 finish. That season featured a win in the Class 4A playoffs before bowing out in the second round.

HEAD VIKING: Justin Price has steered the ship in Winfield the past nine seasons. He’s complied at 32-44 record during that span.

2014 Outlook

OFFENSE: At 6-5, 185 pounds, Will Alder has the frame of a sharp slinging quarterback. The senior signal-caller tossed for nearly 1,000 yards as a junior. Having playoff experience will be an asset as he looks to guide the program to third consecutive postseason berth.

Aldler’s running back is the complete opposite. 5-foot-5 , 190 pound Isaiah Amezcua totes the rock in the backfield. The short and shifty tailback should provide a punch through the line of scrimmage.
