It was a normal Kansas spring around the state the past week with rain, wind and bitter temperatures that caused a lot of high school sporting events to get cancelled or postponed until a later date. But there were still some events that took place in the North Central Activities Association this past week.
Highlights from this past week in the NCAA included Southeast of Saline baseball sweeping Minneapolis on Thursday, Russell sweeping Larned in baseball on Friday, Russell sweeping Plainville in softball on Tuesday and Beloit hosting its annual Relay track meet on Friday.
The Knight baseball team split a doubleheader with Beloit on Friday, winning the opener 11-0 but falling 12-9 in the nightcap. The Knights then got swept by Hays Thomas More Prep on Thursday, falling 8-2 and 5-4.
The Lady Knight softball team split with Beloit on Monday, falling 13-3 in the opener but bouncing back to win the nightcap 12-5.
The Sacred Heart track teams competed at the Beloit Relays on Friday where the Knight boys were 3rd with 60 points and the Lady Knights finished 10th with 31 points.
The Knight tennis team placed 8th with 52 points at Hesston on Wednesday and third with 32 points at Smoky Valley on Thursday.
The Knight golf team won the Bennington tournament, which was played at Minneapolis on Tuesday with a score of 349.
The Lion baseball team got swept by Southeast of Saline on Thursday, falling 13-9 and 8-3.
The Lady Lion softball team got swept by Beloit on Thursday, falling 7-5 in the opener and 10-0 in the nightcap.
The Minneapolis track teams competed at Beloit on Friday where the Lion boys were 8th with 32 points and the Lady Lions finished 2nd with 124 points.
The Lion golf team played in the Bennington tournament on Tuesday, which was played in Minneapolis, and the Lions finished 4th with a score of 423.
Southeast of Saline
The Trojan baseball team swept Minneapolis on Thursday, winning 13-9 and 8-3. The Trojans then split with Concordia on Friday, falling 10-7 in the opener but coming back to win the nightcap 11-5.
The Lady Trojan softball team split with Beloit on Tuesday, winning the opener 7-3 but falling in the nightcap 4-2. The Lady Trojans then split with Concordia on Friday, falling 5-4 in the first game but coming back to win the night cap 13-4.
The Southeast of Saline track teams competed at the Beloit Relays on Friday where the Trojan boys finished 4th with 47 points and the Lady Trojans finished 2nd with 67 points.
The Trojan golf team finished 10th with a score of 405 at Hesston on Thursday.
The Bronco baseball team was scheduled to play at Hays TMP on Tuesday but the games were postponed due to inclement weather until May 12. The Broncos then swept Larned on Friday, winning 3-1 and 11-9.
The Lady Bronco softball team swept Plainville on Tuesday, winning 15-7 and 7-6. The Lady Broncos then got swept by Larned on Friday, falling 14-2 and 13-1.
The Russell track teams competed at the Beloit Relays on Friday where the Bronco boys finished 8th with 32 points and the Lady Broncos were 8th with 43 points.
The Bronco tennis team was scheduled to play at Great Bend on Thursday, but results from the meet were not reported in.
The Bronco golf team was scheduled to play at Hays TMP on Tuesday, but results from the meet were not reported in.
The Beloit track teams hosted their annual Beloit Relays on Friday and the Beloit teams swept the team titles with the Trojan boys winning the title with 133 points and the Lady Trojans winning fgirst with 77.5 points.
The Trojan baseball team split with Sacred Heart on Mondy, falling 11-0 in the opener, but coming back to win the nightcap 12-9. The Trojans then split with Abilene on Friday, winning the opener 7-3 but falling 6-5 in the nightcap.
The Lady Trojan softball team split with Sacred Heart on Monday, winning the opener 13-3 but falling in the second game 12-5. The Lady Trojans then split with Southeast of Saline on Tuesday, falling 7-3 in the opener but winning the second game 4-2.
The Trojan golf team placed 6th at Concordia on Monday with a score of 369.
The Bearcat baseball team split with Lincoln on Monday, falling 12-0 in the opener, but coming back to win the second game 11-10.
The Lady Bearcat softball team was scheduled to play at Little River on Tuesday, but the games were cancelled due to inclement weather. The Lady Bearcats then swept two games from Republic County on Friday, winning 13-3 and 8-4.
The Ellsworth track teams competed at the Beloit Relays on Friday, with the boys finishing in 12th place with 12 points and the Lady Bearcats also finishing in 12th place, with 14 points.
The Bearcat tennis team was scheduled to play at Larned on Monday, but results from the meet were not reported in. The Berarcats then placed 3rd at the Salina Central meet with 3 points.
The Bearcat golf team did not play this past week and is scheduled to return to action Tuesday when they host a meet.
The Lady Buff softball team got swept in two games by Ellsworth on Friday, falling 13-3 and 8-4.
The Republic County track teams competed at the Beloit Relays on Friday where the Buff boys finished in 13th place with 11 points and the Lady Buffs finished in 11th place with 19 points.
The Buff golf team placed 4th with a score of 359 at Concordia on Monday and placed 6th with a score of 379 at Clay Center on Thursday.
