Liberal, Kan.—
Senior Brenna Briggs broke two Dodge City High School basketball records against the Liberal Lady Skins Tuesday night. She already held both records but broke them with seven three-pointers in a single game and 37 points in a single game. She led the scoring as they defeated the Lady Skins 73-31.“I got my career high tonight of 37 points and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates,” Briggs said. “They were working all night to get me open.”
She also said a lot of the opportunities came from the Lady Demons defensive pressure.
“It was just a lot of fast breaks and steals,” Briggs said. “We knew we had to turn the pressure on and start from the get-go. It was a lot of fun tonight.”
Briggs was not the only dominant offensive force on the court though. Senior Ashley Stephenson hit multiple three-pointers and accumulated 13 points for the Lady Demons.
The boys’ game was a much closer match up. Liberal led after the first quarter 11-8. Senior Trey Hallman was the leading scorer as he led the Demons back into the lead. They finally finished off the Redskins after a tight battle 55-43.
