Sacred Heart defeated Norton Community 21-19 to advance in the playoffs.

The game was scoreless in the beginning of the first, both teams defensed playing extremely tough.

"Take away one or two plays first half, our defense was outstanding in the first half," Sacred Heart head coach Bruce Graber said.

In the second quarter, the Knights turned a Blue Jay mistake into points on the board.Quarterback Dalton Miller through a pick to Sacred Heart's Andrew LeValley. A few plays later, on 4th and 13, Nick Wuthrow found Aaron Deidrich for a 27-yard touchdown pass.

In the third quarter the Blue Jays had the answer. Avoiding a sack, Dalton Miller found Tanner Furbush for a 64-yard touchdown to tie it up.

The Knights answered quickly, however. Wuthrow capped off a drive with a 51-yard touchdown run of his own.

"Offensively, in the second half, we were better, Graber said.

On their next possession, Norton Community's Jacob Brooks broke off a long touchdown run, but the missed extra point made the score 14-13.

The Knights had one last touchdown, a 10-yard run by Drew Deidrich, Andrew Deidrich's twin brother.

"They're just great kids," Graber said. "They are just the kind of kids we have here."

In the last few minutes of the game, a pass to Carson McKenna had the Blue Jays down two, but the team was unable to pull-off the 2-point conversion to tie it up and the Knights won it 21-19.

The Knights will play Scott City on Saturday in Salina.
