A year after reaching the state championship game, the Heights Falcons are the coaches’ pick to win the league this season.
Heights, which finished the season at 8-5 a year ago with a 4-3 record in the league, returns six players on offense and eight on defense.
Bishop Carroll finished just two votes out of first place. The Eagles return seven offensive players and eight on defense off of a squad that finished 11-1 last year after falling to Hutchinson in the state semifinals.
The GWAL's top picks face-off against each other this Friday at Heights.
Northwest (7-3, 5-2) and Kapaun (6-4, 3-3) finished third and fourth in the poll respectively. The two get the season kicked off on Thursday at Northwest.
Southeast was picked fifth, ahead of a South team that finished fourth in the league last year. The Titans return five starters to each side of the ball after a playoff run last year.
