It was another routine spring week around the Wheat State League this past week.
Routine, that is, unless you count the fact that the eight Wheat State schools with track teams are gearing up for the Wheat State League track meet that is scheduled for this Thursday at Goessel. Other than the preparations which must be going on around the Wheat State League for post-season competition, it was normal because there were quite a few wins and quite a few losses.
This time of year, that is normal for every league around Kansas.
Solomon
The Solomon track teams ran at Tescott on Tuesday where the Gorilla boys won the team title with 93 points while the Lady Gorillas were 9th with 25 points. … The Gorilla and Lady Gorillas track teams ran at Lincoln on Friday where the Solomon boys finished in fourth place with 74 points and the Solomon girls finished seventh with 48 points.
Hope
The Hope track teams ran at Burlingame on Monday where the Lion boys scored 111 points to place third and the Lady Lions scored 47 points for fifth place. …
Wakefield
The Bomber and Lady Bomber track teams ran at Tescott on Tuesday where the Wakefield boys finished 10th with 20 points while the Wakefield girls were 4th with 50 points. …
Little River
The Little River track teams ran at Lyons on Tuesday where the Lady Redskins finished in second place with 104 points and the Redskin boys scored 100 points to finish in third place. … The Redskin baseball team split with Minneapolis on Tuesday, winning the opener 11-1, but falling in the nightcap 6-3. …
White City
White City’s softball team swept Northern Heights on Tuesday, scoring 18 runs in both games as the Lady Huskies, who are combined with Herington for softball, won the opener 18-1 and completed the sweep with an 18-3 win in the nightcap. … The White City track teams ran at Burlingame on Monday where the girls finished with 85 points to place third and the White City boys scored 127 points to place second. … The Huskies and Lady Husky track teams ran at Tescott on Tuesday where the White City boys finished in 9th place with 31 points while the White City girls were 10th with 14 points. …
Centre
The Centre golf team played at Marion on Tuesday. The Cougars did not have enough players to constitue a team score, but Dylan Svitak shot a 44-41—85 to finish in fifth place individually.
Goessel
The Bluebird golf team played at Marion on Tuesday where they fired a 4-man score of 361 to finish in second place. … The Goessel track teams ran at Herington on Friday where the Bluebird boys finished in fifth place with 40 points and the Lady Bluebirds were fifth with 53 points.
Peabody Burns
The Warrior golf team played at Marion on Tuesday where they finished in eighth place after carding a 4-man score of 414. … The Warrior golfers also played at Marion again on Friday where they shot a 779 to finish in 12th place. …
Elyria Christian
The Lady Eagle soccer team played host to Hays’ Thomas More Prep-Marian High School on Thursday and sent the Lady Monarchs home with a 4-0 defeat. Elyria Christian is scheduled to play host to Hutch Trinity this Tuesday in their second to last regular season contest in 2012.
