The 2012-2013 Winter Season for the Wheat State League is in its home stretch with two teams still holding unblemished Wheat State records.

The Solomon Gorilla boys are sitting at 11-3 overall on the season, but still 6-0 in Wheat State action with a slight edge over the White City boys, who are 14-2 in overall but 7-1 in Wheat State action. On the girls’ side, Little River is 10-5 overall with a 5-0 Wheat State record and the Lady Redskins have the edge over Goessell, who is currently 7-0 overall and 4-2 in Wheat State action.

Solomon

The Solomon teams split with Centre High School on Tuesday, with the Gorilla boys winning 66-29 but the Lady Gorillas suffering a 59-40 loss. Then on Friday Solomon swept two games from Peabody Burns with the boys winning 63-59 and the Lady Gorillas winning 31-24.

Hope

The Lions and Lady Lions had Tuesday night off before splitting with White City on Friday as the Lion boys suffered a 43-13 loss but the Lady Lions earned a 45-22 victory.

Wakefield

The Wakefield teams suffered four losses this past week on the basketball court as the Bombers and Lady Bombers got swept by White City on Tuesday, the boys falling 52-41 and the girls losing 42-23, and the squads also got swept by Little River on Friday with the boys falling 64-43 and the girls losing 38-24.

Little River

The Redskins and Lady Redskins went undefeated in their four games this past week as Little River swept Goessel on Tuesday and also swept Wakefield on Friday. Tuesday the Redskin boys won 51-33 over Goessel and the Lady Redskins won 56-27. Friday night the Redskin boys won 64-43 over Wakefield following a 38-24 win over Wakefield by the Lady Redskins.

White City

The White City basketball teams swept Wakefield on Tuesday with the Huskies boys winning 52-41 and the Lady Huskies earning a 42-23 victory. Friday night White City split with Hope as the Lady Huskies opened with a 45-22 loss but the Huskies boys followed with a 43-13 victory.

Centre

Centre High School’s basketball teams split with Solomon High School on Tuesday night as the Cougar boys fell 66-29 but the Lady Cougars picked up a 59-40 victory. Friday night Centre got swept by Goessell with the boys falling 46-41 and the girls suffering a 50-48 defeat.

Goessel

Goessel High School got swept by Little River on Tuesday night but bounced back on Friday night and swept Centre High School. Tuesday the Bluebird boys lost 51-33 to Little River and the Lady Bluebirds fell 56-27. Friday night, however, the Bluebird teams came back as the boys picked up a 46-41 win over Centre while the Lady Bluebirds earned a 50-48 victory.

Peabody Burns

The Warriors and Lady Warriors split with Elyria Christian on Tuesday evening with the Peabody boys earning a 56-28 win but the Lady Warriors suffered a 40-30 defeat. Friday night Peabody got swept by Solomon as the Warrior boys fell 63-59 and the Lady Warriors lost 31-24.

Elyria Christian

The Elyria Christian basketball teams had a busy week on the basketball courts as they played Peabody Burns on Tuesday night, splitting the two games, with the boys falling 56-28 but the girls winning 40-30. Then on Thursday night Elyria played Burrton High School with the girls winning 38-29 but no score was reported for the boys game. Friday night Elyria played host to Junction City’s St. Xavier High School, with the Lady Eagles winning 45-19, but once again no score was reported for the boys’ contest.
