SOLOMON, Kan.—
The nine schools in the Wheat State League gave themselves an extra three days off for the Christmas Break in 2012 as none of the Wheat State League played any games the final night of regular action in 2012, which was Friday, Dec. 20.Eight of the nine teams, however, were in action on Tuesday night of this past week and all eight teams were involved in Wheat State action with only Wakefield taking the night off.
Solomon
Solomon High School played White City on Tuesday and split the two games with the Huskies and Lady Huskies. White City won the girls’ game to open the evening, 47-29, but the Gorilla boys came back to earn the split with a 50-33 win in the nightcap. Solomon is scheduled to return to the courts Jan. 4 when they play at Goessel.
Hope
Hope High School got swept by Goessel in its final night of action 2012 as the Lady Lions lost 43-30 and the Lion boys fell 49-31. Hope is scheduled to return to the courts Jan. 7 when they play host to Junction City’s St. Xavier High School.
Wakefield
Wakefield had last week off and is scheduled to return to the courts Jan. 4 when they return to Wheat State action by playing host to Elyria Christian High School.
Little River
Little River High School swept two games from Elyria Christian High School on Tuesday with the Redskin boys winning 55-16 over the Eagles and the Lady Redskins picking up a 42-38 win over Elyria Christian. Little River is scheduled to return to the courts on Jan. 4 when it plays at Ellinwood High School.
White City
The White City basketball teams split a pair of games with Solomon on Tuesday as the girls picked up a 47-29 victory, but the Huskies boys suffered a 50-33 loss. White City is scheduled to return to the courts on Jan. 4 when they play at Centre High School.
Centre
Centre High School got swept in two games on Tuesday by Peabody Burns High School as the boys lost 82-66 and the girls lost their game 48-46. The Cougars and Lady Cougars are scheduled to return to the courts Jan. 4 when they play host to White City.
Goessel
Goessel High School swept two games from Hope High School on Tuesday with the girls picking up a 43-30 win and the boys completing the sweep with a 49-31 victory. Goessel is scheduled to return to the courts Jan. 4 when they play host to Solomon High School.
Peabody Burns
Peabody Burns’ basketball teams swept two games from Centre High School on Tuesday with the boys winning 82-66 and the girls picking up a 48-46 victory. The Warriors and Lady Warriors are scheduled to return to the courts on Jan. 4 when they play two games at Flinthills.
Elyria Christian
Elyria High School’s basketball teams got swept by Little River High School on Tuesday with the Eagle boys falling 55-16 and the Lady Eagles also falling 42-38. Elyria Christian is scheduled to return to the courts Jan. 4 when they play at Wakefield.
