Augusta hosted their last regular season home games on Tuesday in a triangular against El Dorado and Rose Hill. The Rockets won the tri after defeating both Augusta and El Dorado, but the Wildcats were able to finish 1-1 after handing Augusta their second loss of the night. All three teams were seeking a boost of confidence before sub-state play begins on Saturday.

Rose Hill controlled the first match against the Orioles, as the scoring went back and forth for each team. Rose Hill took game one 25-20 and continued their dominance in game two as they used a 7-0 run to win 25-13.

The Rockets remained on the court for the second match of the night to take on the El Dorado Wildcats. The game was again a see saw battle, but Rose Hill took game one 25-18. There was no sign of slowing down for Rose Hill as they took game two by 12 points, 25-13.

Rose Hill Coach Mellissa Segovia said her team improved during the two matches.

“We came out slow, but started using our hitters,” Segovia said. “Dakota Williams, Lexie Wartick and Bailey Santo came out hitting for us tonight. Our sub-state is going to be tough, but hopefully it will be a good day for us.”

Match three saw a barn-burner between Augusta and El Dorado. Last week the Wildcats beat the Orioles in El Dorado, so Augusta was looking to pick up the win at home.  El Dorado was strong through the first game winning 25-14. They were ahead again in game two, but Augusta sparked a comeback beating the Wildcats 25-23 forcing a game three. El Dorado bounced back from their game two loss and won the third game 25-19.

Rose Hill (28-8) will be in Andale for sub-state on Saturday, while El Dorado (11-18) and Augusta (12-21) both will be in a sub-state at El Dorado on Saturday.
