The first girls’ tennis rankings of 2012 have been announced, and it’s the usual suspects at the top. In class 6A, Shawnee Mission East finished last season as the No. 3 team in the state and now sits atop the ranks.
Class 5A features Bishop Carroll as the top team in the state after finishing as the runner-up at the state tournament. Defending state champion Kapaun Mt. Carmel comes in at No. 3 in the pre-season polls.
Wichita Collegiate and St. James Academy are the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the state, respectively. Fitting, as that was both teams’ finish in the state last season. All top five finishers in 4A are in the top five this pre-season, just in a different order.
Conway Springs holds the top spot in 3-2-1A. Complete rankings are below.
