The 2010-2011 athletic school year for the North Central Kansas League came to an end Saturday at the 2011 Kansas state track and field championship conducted at Wichita’s Cessna Stadium. The NCKL’s top team came from the Marysville girls, who finished the meet with 30 points to place sixth while Chapman’s girls team finished with 22 points in Class 4A to finish in 10th place. The Clay Center softball team also played in the state tournament, but the Lady Tigers were knocked out of the tournament after the opening round when the Lady Tigers dropped a 6-0 game to Andover/Garden Plain.
Concordia
The Concordia track and field squads had individuals on both boys and girls teams qualify for state in 2011. The Lady Panthers finished the state meet with 7 points while the Panthers finished with two points.
Abilene
The Cowboys earned 2 points at the Class 4A state track meet while the Cowgirls finished the season with eight points at the state track meet.
Clay Center
The Clay Center softball team finished its season with an 18-6 record and a state qualification, but the Lady Tigers dropped a 6-0 game to Andale/Garden Plain in the opening round of the state meet. The Tiger track team finished with 6 points at the state track meet, while the Lady Tigers were unable to score any points at the state meet.
Marysville
The Marysville Lady Bulldogs scored 30 points in the Class 3A state track meet over the weekend. The Bulldogs, however, were held without a point at the state 3A meet.
Wamego
The Raiders finished the Class 4A state track meet with eight points while the Lady Raiders finished the state meet with 10 points.
Chapman
The Chapman Lady Irish scored 22 points over the weekend in the Class 4A state track meet which was good for 10th place. The Fighting Irish boys, however, were held without a point in the state track meet.
