The 2012 North Central Kansas League fall campaign is underway, kind of. The Abilene Cowgirl tennis team got its first action at Hesston out of the way befor rain dampened its scheduled event in Salina on Saturday.The Wamego Lady Raider tennis team did play host to a meet on Thursday, where it placed third in a five-team meet while the rest of the NCKL should get underway this week.
Concordia
The Lady Panther tennis team was scheduled to get its season underway on Saturday but got rained out from the Sacred Heart Invitational. The Lady Panthers will now wait until this Thursday when they play at Chapman. … The Concordia football team is scheduled to get its season underway on Friday when it plays host to Beloit. … The Concordia golf team will also open its season in familiar territroy as it plays host to an invitational on Tuesday. … The Concordia volleyball team will open its season on Thursday when it plays at Abilene. … The cross country teams are scheduled to host a meet on Thursday.
Abilene
The Cowgirl tennis team opened its 2012 campaign on Thursday when it placed fourth in the Hesston Invitational with 14 points. Marysville
The Lady Bulldog volleyball team, which opens its season this Thursday at Riley County, was ranked No. 5 in Class 3A by the KVA in its preseason rankings. … The Bulldog football team is scheduled to begin its season Friday night when it plays at Winfield. … The Lady Bulldog tennis team is scheduled to open on Thursday when it plays at Salina Central. … The Marysville cross country teams are scheduled to open their season Sept. 1 when they serve as host to a meet.
Wamego
The Lady Raider tennis team opened its season Thursday by hosting a five-team invitational tournament where it finished third with 22 points and won the No. 2 doubles title. … The Lady Raider volleyball team, which opened the season ranked among the others in the Class 4A KVA pre-season rankings, won the Wabaunsee tournament championship on Saturday as the Lady Raiders beat Centralia 25-20, 25-12 in the championship match. … The Red Raider football team will open its season on Friday at Rock Creek High School. … The Wamego cross country teams are scheduled to open their season Sept. 1 when they run at Manhattan.
