The Clay Center Tiger football team remains undefeated on the season, the Wamego Red Raider football team remains on top of the NCKL standings and the Abilene Cowboys and Marysville Bulldog football teams are stilll searching for their first wins of the 2012 season.Wamego is currently on top of the NCKL standings because it got an early start to the NCKL season against Marysville so it is 3-0 in NCKL play, but just 3-1 overall while Clay Center is 2-0 in NCKL action but 4-0 overall.
Concordia
The Lady Panther golf team played in the Russell Invitational on Monday where they finished sixth with a team score of 235. The Lady Panther linksters also played at Salina South on Tuesday where they finished in 10th place after shooting a 415 … The Concordia cross country teams ran at Republic County on Thursday where the boys finished in fourth place with 76 points and the girls did not have enough runners to earn a valid team score. … The Lady Panther tennis team hosted a meet on Thursday where it finished in fourth place with 32 points. … The Panther football team picked up its second win of the year Friday night when it handed Abilene its fourth loss of the season, 44-21. Concordia will look to keep the winning alive this Friday night when it plays host to Marysville.
Abilene
The Abilene cross country teams ran at Southeast of Saline on Tuesday where the Cowboys finished in third place with 102 points while the Cowgirls were fourth with 97 points. … The Cowgirl tennis team played at Salina South on Thursday where they finished in fifth place with 29 points. … The Cowgirl volleyball team played at Marysville on Thursday evening and earned a split as Abilene won the opener 25-19, 25-27, 25-17 but lost the nightcap 25-15, 25-15. … The Cowboy football team suffered its fourth loss of the season Friday night when it dropped a 44-21 contest to Concordia. The Cowboys will look for that first win this Friday night when it plays at Wamego High School.
Clay Center
The Clay Center cross country teams ran at Republic County on Thursday where the Tigers and Lady Tigers swept the team titles. The Clay Center boys won the meet with 48 points while the Lady Tigers won the meet with 23 points. … The Lady Tiger tennis team played at Concordia on Thursday where they finished in sixth place with six points. … The Tiger football team remained undefeated on the season Friday night when it handed Marysville a 28-0 defeat. The Tigers will look to remain undefeated this Friday night when they play at Chapman.
Marysville
The Lady Bulldog tennis team played host to a quadrangular on Monday where they finished in second place with 21 points. The Lady Dawgs also played at Concordia on Thursday where they won the team title with 50 points. … The Marysville cross country teams ran at Republic County on Thursday where the Bulldog boys finished in sixth place with 156 points but the Lady Bulldogs did not have enough runners to earn a team score. … The Lady Bulldog volleyball team played host to Abilene Thursday night and earned a split with the Cowgirls. Abilene won the opener 25-19, 25-27, 25-17 but the Lady Dawgs came back to win the nightcap 25-15, 25-15. … The Bulldog football team was handed its fourth loss of the season Friday night, when it lost 28-0 to Clay Center. The Bulldogs will look for that first win of the year this Friday night when they play at Concordia.
Wamego
The Wamego Lady Raider tennis team played at Concordia on Thursday where they finished in third place with 35 points. … The Wamego cross country teams ran at the Rim Rock Farm Classic on Saturday, where the Raider boys won the team title with 164 points but the Lady Raiders did not earn a team score. … The Red Raider football team held on to its half-game lead in the NCKL football standings Friday night when they beat Chapman 21-28. The Red Raiders will look to keep the winning alive this Friday night when they play host to the Abilene Cowboys.
Chapman
The Chapman cross country teams ran at Southeast of Saline on Tuesday where the boys finished eighth with 232 points while the Lady Irish did not have enough runners to earn a valid team score. … Tbe Lady Irish volleyball team played host to a triangular with Hesston and Smoky Valley on Tuesday but dropped both matches. Chapman lost to Hesston 25-19, 25-16 and also to Smoky Valley 25-18, 22-25, 15-12. The Lady Irish also played at the Solomon Quad on Thursday where they went 1-2 on the evening, defeating Hope 25-17, 25-13, but falling to Herington 26-24, 25-18 and to Solomon 24-26, 25-19, 25-19. … The Lady Irish tennis team played at Hillsboro on Thursday where they won the team title with 49 points. … The Fighting Irish football team suffered its second loss of the season Friday night when they fell 31-28 to Wamego. The Irish will look to get back on the winning side of things this Friday night when they play host to Clay Center.
