The North Central Kansas League athletic departments are now anxiously awaiting the beginning of the 2012-2013 Winter Season, which will begin Nov. 29 with the opening of both basketball and wrestling seasons.

During the fall season the NCKL did not have any of its teams qualify for the state tournament in volleyball. The NCKL did have three representatives in playoff football with Concordia advancing to the second round before it was eliminated by Buhler.

All six of the NCKL schools had individuals which were recovgnized in both football and volleyball post-season All NCKL squads.

Concordia

The Concordia football team, which advanced the furthest in the playoffs for the NCKL, was represented on the All NCKL First Team by Gabe Bergmann, Skyler Hittle, Derek Pearson, Brentin Hake and Trevor Nordell and by Drake Hake, Trevor Nordell, Skyler Hittle, Josh Pounds and Nick Thomas on the honorable mention list.

Abilene

Abilene High School was represented by Nolan Berry, Andy Wilson and Dathan Parks on the All NCKL First Team in football and Keil Kelly, Dathan Parks, Luke Anguiano, Cody Lokken, Colton Mills, Trenton Roth and Nick Ward on the honorable mention list in football. The Cowgirl volleyball team, meanwhile, had Taylor Alderson, Kurstin Guy, Gracie Sexton and Katie Myers named to the First Team All NCKL volleyball squad while Carly Gassman was named to the honorable mention volleyball team.

Clay Center

In football the Tigers made it to the playoffs and had Caleb Carson, Austin Flemming, Ryan Blake named to the First Team All NCKL Football team and Lody Black, Jordan Bosche, Danhy Ellis, Dalton Haist, Tyler Bisnette, Austin Ebert and Austin Flemming named to the honorable mention football list. In volleyball the Lady Tigers had MacKenzie Edmundson and Macey Dieckmann named to the First Team All NCKL squad.

Marysville

Marysville High School, the only Class 3A school in the Class 4A dominated NCKL, also had individuals on both football and volleyball lists. In football, where the Bulldogs were 0-9, Marysville was represented by senior James Landoll on the First Team squad and juniors Brock Watts and Coleman Forst and seniors Anthony Bruna, Zach Cook, Garrett Crome, Garrett Eck, Brandon Griffee, Mikah Nietfeld and Austin Tillery were all named to the honorable mention list in football. In volleyball the Lady Bulldogs had junior Abbi Degenhardt and Tristin Wicks named to the first team list and senior Meghan Roberts named to the honorable mention list.

Wamego

The Lady Raider volleyball team and the Red Raider football team each won the NCKL crowns in 2012 and both squads were also well represented on the All NCKL teams as the football team was represented by senior’s Dan Jensen, Dakota Turner, Marshall Wethington, Nathan Pageler, Logan Soddard and Alex Wehite and sophomore Kyler Alderson on the First Team All NCKL football team while sophomore Alderson, junior Trenton York and seniors Matt Webb and Brandon Ebert were all named to the honorable mention list. In volleyball the Lady Raiders were represented by sophomore True Mussetter and seniors Lakyn Rowden and Rachel Griffitt on the First Team All NCKL squad and by senior Emmalee Chrest on the honorable mention list.

Chapman

Chapman High School had seniors Kyle Anderson and Zach Heiman and junior Logan Lexow named to the First Team All NCKL in football and seniors Jarrad Gillen, Logan Lehmkuhl, junior Lexow named to the honorable mention list. Chapman’s volleyball squad did not have any player named to either All NCKL volleyball list.
