WICHITA, Kan.—
The North boys’ track and field team took home second place at the North/East Relays Apr. 24. Southeast won the City League-only meet with 119 points. North finished second with 93.With only GWAL schools in attendance, it gave a strong outlook on the upcoming city league championship. North has maintained a strong core of talented athletes that pose a threat to challenge for a win in any event.
North proved to be one of the top teams at the meet with performances from Torrence Henderson in the high jump with a mark of 6'4". He also took 2nd in the long jump and triple jump.
Also, the boys had very strong performances in its relays. The 4X800-meter relay team in Jawad Al-Ashab, Brandon Dorion, Tristyn Villa and Jeremy Brittain took home top honors in the event. Also taking first place was the distance medley relay team in Al-Ashab, Villa, Brittain, and J'quon Williams.
Another high placing relay was the 4X400-meter relay team with a third-place finish.
"The meet was a success,” said Galbreath. “We got out and competed well and improved on some things."
The Skins next meet will be May 4th at the Derby Invitational at 3 p.m.
