The North boys’ track and field team took home second place at the North/East Relays Apr. 24. Southeast won the City League-only meet with 119 points. North finished second with 93.

With only GWAL schools in attendance, it gave a strong outlook on the upcoming city league championship. North has maintained a strong core of talented athletes that pose a threat to challenge for a win in any event.

"We are running, throwing, and jumping some excellent times and marks so far this season. I'm very pleased," North head coach Tyrone Galbreath said.

North proved to be one of the top teams at the meet with performances from Torrence Henderson in the high jump with a mark of 6'4". He also took 2nd in the long jump and triple jump.

Also, the boys had very strong performances in its relays. The 4X800-meter relay team in Jawad Al-Ashab, Brandon Dorion, Tristyn Villa and Jeremy Brittain took home top honors in the event. Also taking first place was the distance medley relay team in Al-Ashab, Villa, Brittain, and J'quon Williams.

Another high placing relay was the 4X400-meter relay team with a third-place finish.

"The meet was a success,” said Galbreath. “We got out and competed well and improved on some things."
