Mulvane and Winfield were in action along with El Dorado as the Wildcats hosted a Triangular at El Dorado High School on Tuesday Night.
The night kicked off as Winfield took on El Dorado. The two teams met on September 4 at Circle with El Dorado winning 25-11 and 25-14. El Dorado started out leading 6-1 early, then went on a 10-0 run to win game one 25-4. Game 2 was closer to the start, but the Wildcats pulled away to win the game 25-11.
Mulvane then stepped on to the court to play its first game of the night and played Winfield. Mulvane started the game with a 2-1 start, but Winfield scored four points in a row to take the lead. Mulvane, then went on an 8-0 after leading 8-6, to make it 16-6. Mulvane outscored Winfield 17-3 to win Game 1 25-9. Game 2 saw Mulvane dominate and not look back, winning game two, 25-11.
The battle of Wildcats took place in the final match of the night between El Dorado and Mulvane. In Game 1, El Dorado got off to a 2-0 start, but Mulvane outscored El Dorado 11-4 before Coach Jane Squires called for time. Mulvane won Game 1 25-14.
El Dorado did not want to see their night end with a loss, but took control of game two leading 16-8 at one point en route to a 25-18 win in Game 2. The final game would be the closest match all night. Mulvane led 11-9 at one point, El Dorado would cut the deficit down to 17-16, but Mulvane finished off the Wildcats 25-18.
Mulvane coach Danielle Phillips said this was a tough task against El Dorado.
“We knew tonight we were going to have to fight against El Dorado,” Phillips said. “Destynee Donaldson and Olivia Naccarato were key players of the night. They stepped up when we needed them to.”
Mulvane (6-10), will host a tournament on Saturday, El Dorado (5-7) will go to Rossville for a tournament on Saturday, Winfield (1-15) will go to Mulvane on Saturday.
